Sololaki is the quarter Tbilisi's nineteenth century merchants built, a grid of ornamented facades and carved stairwells laid out below Narikala fortress, and it is where most of the city's genuinely old houses still stand. Strofi occupies one of them, a heritage building on Beglar Akhospireli that has been restored rather than replaced. The street carries its own footnote: the poet Lado Asatiani lived on it.
