Achkhoti is a village in the Sno valley, the side glen that branches east off the Georgian Military Highway a few minutes before Stepantsminda, under the watchtowers and the round stone fortress of Sno. Suatis stands there, a resort of thirty-six rooms built to a scale the valley has not seen much of: two restaurants, a conference centre, a garden, a wellness floor. The mountains fill the balconies. It is a deliberate piece of hospitality in a place that has mostly been served by guesthouses, and it changes what a week in the high Caucasus can look like.

Why It Works

Kazbegi is usually sold as a single night: drive up, walk to the church, drive down. This address is built for the opposite, and that is why it earns its place. Tbilisi is roughly three hours south, past Ananuri and the Jvari Pass. A car matters here, and the free parking assumes you have one.
