Tapis Rouge Boutique Hotel
We selected this boutique hotel for its eclectic, individually furnished rooms just off Batumi's Old...
The Radisson Blu rises from the Black Sea waterfront a short walk from Batumi Boulevard, one of the taller addresses in a city that has spent the last two decades building upward along its coast. Inside, 168 rooms and suites run from a standard city view up to a Spa Suite with its own sea-facing balcony, and the public floors lean on glass rather than marble, keeping the water in view from the lobby to the upper-floor bar. It is the kind of large-format hotel that works precisely because Batumi itself is still a resort town learning to be a city, and a property this size gives the boulevard a proper anchor.
We chose this one for range: a casino, a full spa, two restaurants and seven meeting rooms under a single roof is unusual even among Batumi's international hotels, and it means the Radisson Blu serves a couple on a week at the beach as well as it serves a delegate between conference sessions. The 12-out-of-13 quality score and more than two thousand reviews point to a property run at genuine scale rather than boutique intimacy, which is exactly the trade some travellers are looking to make.
Old Boulevard puts the hotel within a two-minute walk of Batumi's seafront promenade, the city's main evening ritual of bike lanes, fountains and open-air cafés that runs for several kilometres along the coast. Iveria Beach sits just beyond it, close enough for a morning swim before breakfast. The old town's cobbled lanes and Europe Square are a short taxi or a longer walk inland, which makes the hotel a base for both beach days and an evening in the historic center without committing fully to either.
Price: €€€€ (Luxe)
Vibe: Large-format, international, beach-resort-meets-business
Rooms: 168, from Standard to a Spa Suite with Sea View
Best For: Couples wanting a full-service beach stay; business travellers needing conference space
Our Favorite Thing About the Hotel: Umami at Clouds, the upper-floor bar and restaurant that turns a grilled dinner into a Black Sea sunset
Dining: Medea Restaurant & Terrace (Georgian cuisine); Umami at Clouds Bar and Restaurant (grill, cocktails, sea views)
Amenities: Anne Semonin spa, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness center with steam room, on-site casino, seven meeting rooms
Attractions: Batumi Boulevard (2 min walk), Iveria Beach, Europe Square, Batumi old town
Medea Restaurant & Terrace keeps to Georgian cooking and the daily breakfast buffet, the kind of straightforward, reliable table a large hotel needs to get right before anything else. Umami at Clouds does the opposite job: grilled dishes and cocktails on an upper floor, with weekend live music and DJ sets that turn dinner into the evening's plan rather than a stop before it. Between the two, the hotel covers a quiet family breakfast and a couple's night out without either guest needing to leave the building.
The Anne Semonin spa and the indoor and outdoor pools sit apart from the hotel's other life, which includes a casino that keeps Batumi's reputation as the Black Sea's gaming town alive for guests who want it. It is an unusual pairing on paper, treatments by day and tables by night, but it reflects how Batumi itself operates: a beach resort that never fully stopped being a gambling destination, and a hotel built to serve both halves of that identity without asking guests to choose.
Standard rooms are competent rather than memorable, but the category worth paying up for is the Spa Suite with Sea View or a Family Suite on a high floor, where the Black Sea fills the window and the Batumi skyline's other towers recede into the background. At 35 to 55 square metres depending on category, the rooms run larger than the boutique hotels further along the coast, which matters for a family stay longer than a weekend.
